Connect your wallets
Which wallets the app connects on each side of a transfer, and when you need a Stellar wallet.
A transfer has two sides: the chain your money is on, and Stellar. You always connect a wallet on the sending side. You connect a Stellar wallet only when the transfer needs the receiving account to approve something.
Press Connect in the top bar of the app. The menu has two sections, Source wallet and Stellar wallet, and each has its own Disconnect.
Source wallet
The menu lists every wallet your browser offers to the page, by name. Choose yours and approve the connection in it. If no wallet is installed, the menu says No wallet found in this browser.
This is the wallet that holds your USDC or USDT0 and approves the sending side of the transfer. When it is on a different network from the chain you send from, the app asks it to switch.
Stellar wallet
Press Connect under Stellar wallet and choose one of Freighter, xBull, Albedo, Lobstr, Hana or Rabet. The wallet has to hold the account the transfer goes to: if you connect a different account, the app says which one it needs.
You need a Stellar wallet in these cases:
- Sending to a new address, where the account approves the repayment and its own setup. See Send to a new Stellar address.
- Receiving another asset than the one that crosses, such as XLM, where the account approves the conversion. See Receive XLM instead.
- A deployment whose sponsor covers no costs, where the account signs the delivery on Stellar and pays its network fee in XLM.
For a USDC transfer to an account that can already hold USDC, with the sponsor paying for the delivery, you need no Stellar wallet at all.
