What a transfer costs
Every cost line on a quote and the review, and what each one means.
The large amount on a route is what arrives on Stellar after its costs. Each cost is its own line on the route or the review.
Transfer fee
What the rail charges to carry the transfer, in the asset it is charged in, already taken out of the amount that arrives. For Circle, the fee comes from Circle's fee service each time you get a quote.
Network fees on the chain you send from
Your wallet pays the network fee for each transaction you approve, in that chain's own currency, separately from the amount you send. LayerZero and Axelar also charge their delivery fee in the sending chain's currency; it is paid with the send transaction, on top of the amount.
Account reserve
Shown only when the address does not exist yet: 1.50 XLM for a new account that holds one asset. The review calls it Kept in your account, because the XLM stays in the new account as its reserve. The sponsor provides it up front, and part of the arriving money pays it back, capped at an amount you approve before anything is sent. See Send to a new Stellar address.
The review also shows the most the repayment can take of what arrives:
- Repays the reserve, from what arrives, as Up to an amount, when the money arrives as the asset you sent. The repayment takes only what buying back the reserve costs, never more than this.
- Left unconverted to repay the reserve, when the transfer also converts to another asset: the part of the arrival kept back for that repayment.
When the account pays its own way
On a deployment whose sponsor covers no costs, the receiving account pays from its own XLM, and the review lists each cost:
- Reserve, from your own XLM: the reserve of an existing account that cannot hold the asset yet.
- Delivery fee, from your own XLM, shown as Up to 0.1 XLM on a Circle route on the main network and Up to 0.2 XLM on the test network: the account signs and pays the delivery on Stellar itself.
Conversion
When you receive XLM instead, the conversion runs at the exchange's price, and the route shows the Conversion rate and the minimum you receive. The conversion is a transaction the receiving account signs, so the account pays its network fee in XLM. The quote checks that the account can spare 0.1 XLM for it.
Integrator fee
A product that embeds Mavna can add its own fee on routes that convert on arrival. When it does, the review shows Integrator fee with the amount and who receives it. The Mavna app sets no integrator fee.
